Movies that have Changed my Life

It takes a lot to be so into a movie, a book, magazine, whatever it may be and think “I can make a difference”. It takes, even more, to go out and be the change you wish to see in the world. So while I’ve lightly danced around the subject of environmentalism I want to share movies that made me passionate on such a subject. All the movies I’ll be mentioning are available on Netflix or YouTube, so go ahead and binge away!

Before the Flood (2016)

Before the Flood is a National Geographic documentary talking about the man-made consequences we have on our planet along with how we are trying to reverse it. This is a heartbreaking and eye-opening film for anyone interested in opening their views. I recommend watching this first, just because it will make you want to find out what you can do. Plus, Leonardo DiCaprio is narrating and the face of National Geographic for the movie.

Minimalism (2016)

Joshua and Ryan are The Minimalists. The film is about going against the American ideal and lessening the load. These two guys are traveling around trying to share these ideals, and it’s opening to what we need vs what we want. I can say that while I haven’t gone to the extent of living like Joshua and Ryan, I’m better than I was. It’s all about the little things, this movie will help motivate you in the right direction.

In Defense of Food (2015)

This is a PBS special that really goes into the western diet. I know we are all aware on how we have to eat healthy, but this documentary goes into solutions for the problems we’ve caused. It breaks it down in a way anyone can understand, give it a watch!

Saving Capitalism (2015)

Ever wondered what is up with the economy? Watch this.

She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry (2014)

I honestly love this documentary because it makes me feel connected to something bigger. It talks about the 1960s women’s movement which was huge! This is an inspiring documentary to remind you that we still have such a long way to go. Feminism is a beautiful thing, and watch this if you want to learn more about why we need it.

A Plastic Ocean (2016)

A Plastic Ocean gives you a view into how we’ve treated our oceans. The scaring statistic that by 2050 more plastic will be in our ocean than fish, is a reason I think everyone should watch this. We’re so used to just throwing out our empty water bottles, we need to start thinking what’s happening with the plastic! The world’s oceans are overflowed with plastic waste, watch this to find out what you can do.

I’m so happy to be able to share these documentaries with all of you because I feel they’ve made such an impact on how I live my life. I hope you feel the same way and spend a night in with one of these amazing films. Make sure to Comment below which movie you loved the most, follow if you want more content like this, and like if you enjoyed!
